Designer, Radio Times (salary up to £31,000 depending on experience)

About the role

Radio Times, the UK’s best-loved premium TV listings magazine, is looking for a highly creative and innovative Designer to join our dynamic Art Desk. You’ll play a key role in producing visually compelling editorial, commercial and digital pages that engage and inspire our audiences.

 

As a Designer, you will;

  • Design layouts for editorial features, regular sections, and commercial content, ensuring all work is print-ready and of the highest standard.
  • Work with copy and images, applying corrections and updates to page layouts as needed.
  • Use and adapt established design templates to maintain brand consistency across all formats.
  • Report into the Deputy Art Editor and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Art Desk, Picture, Production and wider editorial teams.
  • Assist in producing the digital edition of the magazine, including redesigning pages and adding interactive elements in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Create multimedia and motion-based assets where required, supporting the brand’s growing digital presence across online channels and social platforms.
  • Contribute to additional projects such as supplements, brand collateral and event-related creative work as needed.

Requirements

  • A degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing print, digital and multimedia work.
  • Proven experience in print-based design within a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Strong multimedia skills, including experience producing motion graphics, short-form animations, or social-ready video assets (Adobe, After Effects or similar).
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and Photoshop; image retouching skills are a plus.
  • Confidence delivering multimedia outputs such as infographics, social cards, video thumbnails and video-safe graphics is desirable, as is familiarity with UX and UI thinking.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong grasp of typography, layout and visual storytelling.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to take direction and contribute ideas.
  • Highly organised, able to manage time effectively and thrive under weekly deadlines.
  • A passion for magazines, design and emerging digital formats, with a drive to innovate and push creative boundaries.
  • Have a strong understanding of emerging AI tools and their application across editorial design workflows.
  • Confident or willing to learn about using AI-enhanced multimedia platforms to create and edit video, motion graphics and other digital assets for the Radio Times brand.
